This fotonovela is used to help caregivers of elders battling Alzheimer's disease. This project originated from a number of programs in the United Community Cen...ter, especially the Latino Geriatric Center in collaboration with the Medical College of Wisconsin. Community members expressed concerns about the difficulties they faced dealing with loved ones that were suffering from this illness. The team that created this fotonovela did so during a 9 month period in 2010 through research on how to improve the quality of life of loved ones and learning symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. The idea of creating this fotonovela originated from a series of... focus groups conducted at the Centro de la Comunidad Unida - United Community Center. Latinos from the community expressed that their main concern was obesity and obesity related chronic conditions. This presentation is a poster containing background, objective, methods, results, and implications of the study titled: CBPR to Develop and Test a Nutrition Fot...onovela with a Latino Population. There is a Low and limited health literacy associated with lover levels of preventative care and higher levels of chronic disease. There is also an association of racial and ethic groups less likely to achieve fresh fruit and vegetable consumption.
